hi ivica,i’m a fan of your work!it’s a reminder of how resilient life is and of the magic that can be found beyond the fringe of comfortable climates. where more and more anthropologists are staying home it’s refreshing to see the mysterious land that society hasn’t tamed yet. for me the territories are the tibet of north america. there’s a quality of purity that comes through with your images, it’s the deep shadows and the cold light.my name is devin tanguay, for the past couple of years i’ve been traveling canada everywhere from the atlantic, pacific, arctic ocean and arctic circle and everywhere in between, working short term jobs, volunteering on various communities and community centers and contemplating ways to create a cultural evolution- a righteous but an ostensibly necessary one. i’m an artist interested in fostering communities of artists internationally. the project i’m involved with is called the browndwarf compendium and the website is browndwarf.ca where you can simply enjoy artwork. i’ve contacted you because your artwork is inspiring!we are working on and a business plan to be an independent art agency responsible for getting artists in touch with publishers and producers.essentially the brown dwarf compendium is a group of artists that have come together for the purpose of providing the public with surreal art in order to stimulate the imagination. we consider stories and other kinds of media invaluable forms of communication. our website, is in a constant flux of development. we plan to come out with an online magazine soon. we provide anyone interested in contributing to the website a profile and portfolio on the website as it’s our intention to make it a website for those involved.our focus is six fold:1. providing a networking service for artists and encouraging collaboration2. listing art events by location as well as hosting art events3. publishing a monthly online magazine4. providing an online classified service5. airing an online radio show that will be comprised of interviewswith artists and people with unusual stories to share.6. providing an online gallery to sell and showcase many forms of artin regards to organizing events and gatherings for other artistsa general outline of such a gathering is:-discuss promotional and business plans-discuss what brown dwarf compendium is about and what the plan for its evolution is-read stories, pros or poetry whether your own or from a favorite author-constructive criticism-introduce premises and philosophical dilemmas for stories-brainstorming and relating personal experience and insight on given topics-share other art forms if available-general discussion about artin regards to the radio show:we are starting to interview more artists and getting in touch with professional or scholarly art critics to help with such articles. also we’re after interviews with anyone with a strange story to share or a strange job even, similar to the interviews pink floyd did for dark side of the moon or in the work of kevin moore and godspeed you black emperor.currently the collaborative project on the table so to speak is called mandragora, which is an imaginary place where artists can go to project their own creative force in whatever form it takes for the sake of it’s development. a description/overview of what it’s about is provided on the main page entitled “mandragora an introduction”. there have been five stories that take place there which are all accessible from the website. we plan to have many more and many kinds collaborative projects.if you have any samples of your work that you’re willing to share with us we would be honored to showcase/promote them as well as provide you with a profile and portfolio that includes a brief bio and self portrait/picture of yourself. sincerely, devin tanguaybrowndwarf.ca
