Many folks do not realize how far north Berlin lies, so the days are extremely long mid-June through mid-August and very short in November and December. It is seldom that Berlin has really hot summers – and never the east coast hazy/hot/humid and considering the enormous selection of outdoor everything here and that you can also bike this city very well and rent or pick up a cheapie anywhere, a spring/summer visit would make it all the more special.
I think you can visit Berlin any time of the year. The climate is quite temperate; never too warm, never too cold.
Some parts of former East Berlin like Prenzlauer Berg and also Friedrichshain has been quite trendy for years now, but I think we can see a movement back towards the traditional City Center of West Berlin; the areas around Ku’damm and Schöneberg.
I have stayed in great apartments supplied by http://www.checkin.se/berlin in both the East and the West, and can highly recommend them.
