Ireland Travel Guides
I lived in Ireland for 2 years and have visited every year since 1991. The most awe-inspiring places I’ve seen there are Skellig Rock (off the southwest coast) and the Aran Islands (off the city of Galway). But both are better left for folks who are still nimble and fit. If you can, though, GO! Both are accessible via ferries — a plane flies to Aran Islands, too. The ferry can be a rough ride out to Skellig. But it’s worth the suffering.
Travel to Foulksmills, Co Wexford to get away from it all. Foulksmills is 2 hours drive from Dublin city and is a hidden gem. Foulksmills is off the beaten track and as a result there are not many tourists. This gives visitors the chance to relax or even hang out with the locals at the two village pubs. A must is a stay at http://www.millfarmcottage.com/index.htm . Mill Farm Cottages are a cluster of nineteenth century stone farmhouses which have been restored and comfortably furnished. Some of the houses have balconies which overlook the river and mill house. The ultimate in relaxation. One of the main events in Foulksmills each year is the local duck race in the local park. This is great fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqHhSs0pn74 . To get to Foulksmills I would recommend renting a car with http://www.carrentaldublin.ie. This is a 100% secure and Irish owned website with a fantastic range of cars. You will not be disappointed with my recommendation!
You don’t tell about the very best places. Otherwise they cease to be that. You just have to find them, in my view, and then swear yourself to secrecy. Maybe tell a friend. But never here.
